Almost 'No pain' delivery log

3/29/05

1:00 am: Water broke
(It was not like ocean splash as I imagined.. I stayed in bed for about 30 min to figure it out what that was :).. I managed not to wake Daddy O'Hwang up since he would drive to hospital right away for nothing )

11:00 am: Check into hospital to monitor baby's heart rate and contraction

No sign of regular contraction for the rest of day..

3/30/05

7:30 am: Check into hospital triage room
Contractions 6 to 7 mins apart lasting 1 minute
3/10 on the pain scale

10:30 am: 2 cm dilated/80 percent effaced/minus 2
Moved to labor room
4/10 on pain scale

11:25 am: Pitocin and IV fluids administered

12:00 pm: Epidural adminstered (THIS WAS THE BEST PART OF THE LABOR!!)
Contractions 4 mins apart lasting 1 min
5/10 on pain scale

12:30 pm: Pitocin increased to 9 mm/hour
Contractions inconsistent
Two or three in burst followed by long pause
Heart rate depression noted

1:30 pm: Pitocin increased to 15 mm/hour
Still 2 cm !! (What's Pitocin for??)

2:10 pm: Pitocin increased to 18 mm/hour
Noticed baby appears to have had bowel movement
No progression in terms of dilation

2:55 pm: Pitocin increased to 21 mm/hour
3cm dilation/Minus 1/90 percent effaced
Contractions 2 mins apart

3:20 pm: Epidural top off

3:50 pm: Pitocin decreased to 9 mm/hour

6:30 pm: 9 cm dilated
After short nap, suddenly it got progressed into 9 cm

7:45 pm: Start to push (THIS WAS THE WORST PART OF THE WHOLE PROCESS SINCE I DID NOT KNOW/FEEL WHAT I WAS DOING :( )

9:00 pm: Believe or not, we were watching 'American Idol' result show in between pushing
(Daddy O'Hwang seemed so happy when I said that we should watch the show :) )

10:37 pm: Jia was born FINALLY!!
7lbs 1oz. 19 inches
(Not too big, but good size considering Mommy O'Hwang's size)

- Thanks to Daddy O'Hwang who managed to keep excellent log
